Richard is currently working on his upper extremity formulation for a stroke patient. How would you like to wear this crazy thing!

We're in Chicago!

Hello friends and family,

Welcome to our blog! We set this up a while ago, but never got around to advertising it. Since we have now left on our great adventure (what adventure, you say? Read on), we thought it would be a good way to let you all know what we are up to.

On Wednesday we moved to downtown Chicago for a ten week long clinical session that is part of my Orthotics/Prosthetics program at Northwestern University. During this time I will be working on my assessment of patients (live), fabrication skills, and putting under the knife--so to speak--some real cadavers (dead). All this will start on Monday at the Rehabiliation Institute of Chicago (RIC), where some of the most exciting things are happening in O and P. After this portion of the program is done, Katie and I will move back to Spokane where I will be in residency.

Katie and I are very excited and want to fill you in on our big city life. We'll be living large (on rice and beans, unfortunately) and right on lake Michigan, so there will be lots to see.

We hope to update this blog every so often with photos and succinct wedges of life. Join us.

Photos from 2008

This is from our "Beatles-esque" photoshoot. Laura is becoming quite the photographer.

And somehow Mary Claire sneaked into our album on the way up to the crow's nest of the General Mercantile Company.

Another candid shot: Richard before he went back for seconds at Thanksgiving dinner.

Christmas '08

We had a very white Christmas.
